Sacramental Catechesis
Preparing to receive the sacraments of first Confession and first Holy Communion is a wonderfully exciting time in the life of the Parish, as we support our younger parishioners on their continuing journey of faith.
Church Tour
The current building was completed in 1911 and over the years the interior and exterior has undergone some changes. The Church’s interior, in its current state, is sympathetically decorated which was done by a group of parishioners.
St Alban the Protomartyr
St. Alban is regarded as the Protomartyr, or First Martyr of Britain, for he was the first, as far as we know, to lay down his life for the Catholic Faith in this Island.
Parish History
In the year 1880 land was secured for the erection of a Catholic School-Chapel. Fr. Hayde gave Fr. Bailey the task of collecting funds for the new building, which first opened in 1891.
St Alban’s School
St Alban’s Catholic Primary School, located in Tremorfa, Cardiff, is dedicated to providing a rich, faith-based education for children aged 4 to 11. The school fosters a welcoming environment for families from various denominations and faith traditions.
Holy Shroud of Turin
One of the great treasures at the Oratory is the Third-Class Relic of the Holy Shroud of Turin in the Sacred Heart Chapel in the North Transept of the Church, The Relic is an exact replica of the True Shroud.
Our Lady of Penrhys
Legend tells that a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, seated and holding Our Lord, appeared in the branches of an oak tree near to the holy well, Ffynnon Fair. The statue was said to have been incredibly beautiful and a gift from heaven.
Light a Votive Candle
Lighting a votive candle is a profound act of faith and a symbol of your prayers and intentions. As the flame flickers, it represents the light of Christ and the hope that our prayers bring into the world.
Safeguarding
At the Cardiff Oratory, all members and parishioners with significant contact with children, young people, or vulnerable adults must undergo identity and suitability checks, including a full DBS check for those training Altar Servers.
