Sacramental Preparation at St Alban’s, Cardiff
Preparing to receive the sacraments of first Confession and first Holy Communion is
a wonderfully exciting time in the life of the Parish, as we support our younger
parishioners on their continuing journey of faith.
Any child, within the Parish, can enrol on to our preparation course.
Enrolment for our next preparation course, which begins in October 2024, is now
open for children in Year 3 or above (7 years old and above) – simply complete the
form at the bottom of this page and one of the catechetical team will contact you in
due course.
Our course
Our course starts with a meeting for Parents and a Presentation Mass in September,
followed by eight weekly lessons for the Sacrament of Confession, with the children
making their first Confession during Advent. After Christmas, there are a further
eight weekly lessons for the Sacrament of Holy Communion with the children making
their first Holy Communion on Corpus Christi Sunday at the 10.00am Mass.
Children’s lessons take place on Sunday mornings in the children’s lower sacristy
from 10.00am to 12 noon.
Throughout the course there are a number of Parents’ meetings that take place on a
Wednesday evening.
Weekly Mass attendance is an essential part of our course, as is the attendance of
parents at the regular meetings throughout the course.
