The Cardiff Oratory logo incorporates on the left the arms of St Philip Neri, known as the Third Apostle of Rome, the founder of the Congregation of the Oratory, the Oratorians. On the right are the arms of Blessed John Henry Newman (The Cardinal), founder of the Birmingham and London Oratories. At the base of the logo are the arms of St David, principal patron saint of Wales and titular patron of the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Cardiff. Shining radiant over the logo, and the Cardiff Oratory in Formation, is the eight-pointed star of Our Lady, the Holy Mother of God, Stella Maris, she to whom ‘we call for aid’ (Alma Redemptoris), of whom ‘the world’s True Light was born’ (Ave Regina Cœlorum), who ‘pour(s) for us to God thy prayer’ (Regina Cœli), our ‘Mother of mercy’ (Salve Regina).
