SUMMARY:Pop-Up Pilgrimage to Knock
DESCRIPTION:Thursday 22–Friday 23 October 2026 \nWe are organising a short parish pilgrimage to the International Eucharistic and Marian Shrine at Knock in County Mayo. This “Pop-Up Pilgrimage” will offer an opportunity to step away from our normal routine and spend time together in prayer at one of Ireland’s most important places of pilgrimage. \nWhat happened at Knock \nThe Shrine marks the apparition which took place on 21 August 1879\, when Our Lady appeared beside the parish church with St Joseph and St John the Evangelist. An altar was also seen\, upon which stood the Lamb of God before a cross and surrounded by angels. The apparition was silent\, drawing attention to prayer\, the Holy Eucharist and the sacrifice of Christ. Knock therefore provides a particularly fitting place in which to celebrate Mass\, pray the Rosary and entrust our personal\, family and parish intentions to Our Lady. \nOur Pilgrimage \nThe pilgrimage will take place from Thursday 22 October until Friday 23 October 2026. Pilgrims must purchase their own return flights with Ryanair between Bristol Airport and Knock. https://www.ryanair.com/gb/en The outward flight from Bristol departs at 8.40 a.m. on Thursday 22 October. The return flight from Knock departs at 1.20 p.m. on Friday 23 October. When booking\, please check the dates\, flight times and airports carefully before completing the purchase. Any baggage or optional extras must also be arranged individually. Once you have bought your flights\, please inform Fr Sebastian M. that your booking has been confirmed. This is important because it will allow him to know exactly how many people are travelling and to organise the accommodation accordingly. Fr Sebastian M. will arrange accommodation in Knock for the night of Thursday 22 October. Further information about the cost of accommodation and arrangements for payment will be provided to confirmed pilgrims. \nMaking arrangements \nEach pilgrim will be responsible for making his or her own way to and from Bristol Airport. Those taking part may wish to arrange lifts or share transport with other pilgrims\, but this should be organised privately between those travelling. Please allow sufficient time for the journey\, airport check-in and security procedures\, especially as the outward flight leaves early in the morning. \nAt Knock \nDuring our time in Knock\, Mass and devotions will be organised by Fr Sebastian M. The programme will include time for Mass\, the Rosary\, prayer at the Apparition Chapel and visits to the Shrine. There will also be opportunities for private prayer\, Confession and time to explore the shrine grounds. A more detailed itinerary will be circulated once the travel and accommodation arrangements have been confirmed. Pilgrims should bring a Rosary\, suitable clothing and footwear\, any necessary medication and a written list of intentions they would like remembered at Knock. Although brief\, this pilgrimage promises to be a prayerful and joyful occasion\, allowing us to place our intentions before Our Lady and to grow together in faith and friendship.
